DIY Wedding Tips: How to Make a Wedding Bathroom Basket

April blogged about what to put in a wedding bathroom basket awhile back. This post will walk you through how to create a wedding bathroom basket from start to finish.

A wedding bathroom basket contains toiletries and other handy items for the use of the wedding guests in the restroom. While bathroom baskets are optional at weddings, they are a detail not often forgotten and enormously convenient for guests.

Here is a list of items that may be included in both men’s and women’s bathroom baskets:

  • First aid kit(Photo source: It Weddings Florida)
  • Pain relievers/ antacids
  • Band-Aids
  • Neosporin
  • Cough drops
  • Eye drops
  • Vaseline
  • Hand lotion
  • Sanitizer
  • Floss
  • Mouthwash
  • Toothpicks
  • Sunblock
  • Safety pins
  • Q-Tips
  • Mints/gum
  • Lint brush

Additional items for the women’s basket:

  • Feminine hygiene products
  • Small sewing kit
  • Hair spray
  • Hair pins

Now that the contents of the wedding basket are taken care of, you can have some fun with containers. If you are looking for a simple wicker basket, The Basket Lady has quality, special-order baskets (You also may be able to find similar baskets at your local craft store).

For additional options, The Macbeth Collection actually sells customized luxury tubs, trays, totes, caddies and bins that would be perfect for this use.

Assembling your Wedding Bathroom Basket

Arrange the contents with the tallest items at the back of the basket so that everything can be seen and accessible for the wedding guests.

Lastly, create a tag or a sign to attach to the wedding bathroom basket. They may say something as simple as, “Compliments of the bride and groom for your convenience."

Wedding bathroom baskets may be a minor feature in the course of planning your wedding, but they are a detail greatly appreciated.

I once did the same project made out of twigs. I used shears as well as knives from gerber tools to make it and make it smooth through carving.

This basket isn't complete without safety pins -- I've never been a bride, but every wedding I've been to, the brides bustle has "busted" and without the safety pins in my clutch, it would have dragged on the floor all night. Do your self a favor and make them VERY accessible to your guests.

I love this idea! And I definitely agree with Jacki on safety pins, they can definitely be a life saver!

Noëlle, my paper goods. :)
