Barns are becoming increasingly popular among brides as a choice in wedding venues. Among these, Indianapolis hosts a great deal of choices in rustic and historic barns.
Weddings at Connor Prairie
Connor Prairie is an interactive historical park located in Indianapolis. In addition to acting as a venue for special events, their Featherston Barn accommodate up to 112 guests (8 per round table). It also allows for a buffet, dance area, cake table display, gift/registry table, and bar. Further, the adjacent grassy area is perfect for an intimate location for a wedding ceremony.
Weddings at Martha’s Orchard
Located in Hendricks County just 20 miles outside of Indianapolis, Martha’s Orchard has been hosting events for 15 years. Their large banquet barn can accommodate 220 guests. Martha’s Orchard offers specialized lighting and a DJ for the reception. Guests are also given a choice of two wooded areas for the wedding ceremony. The banquet barn also has a stage area and rentals that are available for use.
Weddings at Trader’s Point Creamery
Located 15 minutes from downtown Indianapolis, Trader’s Point Creamery is an organic dairy farm and Artesian creamery. Their historical red barn can accommodate up to 300 guests for a seated dinner or 400 guests for a standing reception. The barn rental includes adjustable lighting and heat, nearby parking for guests, and additional rentals if needed. Besides their barn, Trader’s Point also features a loft restaurant, an outdoor deck and patio, and garden area for guest use.
Weddings at Walhill Farm
Located about an hour outside of Indianapolis, Walhill Farm is in historic Batesville. The 141 acre farm holds 12 acres of hardwood forest, a 4 acre fish pond, and a recently renovated horse barn. Their 12,000 square foot barn can hold up to 800 seated guests in a formal dining environment.
Weddings at Story Inn
Located in Brown County, Story Inn is a 19th century village perfect for reception venues. Their 2,400 square foot barn can hold up to 150 guests, including a stage area surrounded by gardens and forests.
Weddings at Henry Breeding Farm
At 3500 square feet, the Henry Breeding Farm can seat up to 250 guests with a dance floor (300 without). Because the barn is not heated or air conditioned, rental is not recommended after October or before May. The amenities provided with rental, however, include parking, 180 metal folding chairs, 25 6-foot banquet tables, and a kitchen with standard size stove and refrigerator.
